I know the plans I have for you... -Jeremiah 29:11

1. Where do the teens come from?

Families come to us by several different avenues. Referrals typically come from schools, churches, concerned friends or family members. Parents or family members often call us in crisis as private referrals.

2. What are some of the criteria for acceptance into the program?

See Admissions page

3. How old are the residents at BrickHouse Family Ministries?

We accept teenage boys ages 13-17. 18 year olds still in high school are given special consideration.

4. How long do the teens stay?

The average stay is one year to 18 months.

5. Will I get to spend time with my son?

Once healthy boundaries have been established, the teens will return home every other weekend and on major holidays so families can work on specific issues as they progress through the program. Our staff is here to support and assist the parents. The guidelines, privileges and disciplines that are implemented at BrickHouse Family Ministries Inc. and in the teens own home need to be consistently applied so that parents are able to maintain a healthy home environment once their teen returns home permanently.

6. Where do you get your funding?

We rely primarily on the generous gifts of caring individuals, corporations, foundations and churches.

7. Do you receive any government funding?

BrickHouse Family Ministries accepts no government funding. Receiving government funding often requires meeting certain criteria that would inhibit us from promoting the Christian values that we believe are critical to real healing of broken hearts and lives.

8. Do you charge the teenager’s families for your services?

Yes, but there are no set fees. To encourage full participation, BrickHouse Family Ministries charges families on a sliding scale based upon income.

9. What is the operating budget?

The cost per child is less than state run facilities, though we have additional components such as
Christian counseling, on-campus school, the farm, parenting classes and parental involvement. We are able to operate more efficiently than other facilities because our community embraces our work through volunteer efforts.

10. Where is BrickHouse Family Ministries located?

Our administrative offices and school are located at 417 S. Main St. in Bluffton, IN. The residential farm is located about 5 minutes away at 1248 E. 100 N., just outside of Bluffton.

11. How is BrickHouse Family Ministries different from other residential programs?

BrickHouse Family Ministries is not a residential facility where teens get sent to punish their bad
behavior. We believe that every teen that resides at BrickHouse Family Ministries is here for a
purpose and that God has plans to give them a hope and a future, according to Jeremiah 29:11. We also recognize that the entire family needs to be involved in the healing process for lasting results. Therefore parents are required to participate in the program through counseling, visitation and parenting classes.
